iOS Standalone .ipa File Not Recognized as Valid

Post by Gage » Fri May 08, 2015 8:13 pm

Hello,

I am currently using TestFairy to help me deploy my iOS apps to iPhone for testing. A few nights ago, this was working fine, as usual, but the next day, their uploader (which asks for the .ipa file) said the file is invalid after I uploaded it.

Of course, I had not changed any of my processes, and in fact, the only thing that I had changed was the version number in the iOS standalone settings before making the standalone.

I am currently talking to their customer support about the issue, and they asked for my .ipa file to be sent to them for inspection. I sent it, and the representative got back to me, asking whether I forgot to attach it. I checked my outbox, and verified that the .ipa file was indeed attached, but for some reason, the representative didn't appear to be able to see it.

This, combined with the issue that their system was unable to recognize the file when I uploaded it, makes me wonder if something is wrong with the .ipa file, though I have no idea where to begin trying to verify.

Information about how the file was created and obtained:
- I saved as standalone from LiveCode v 7.0.5 rc 2 for iOS only
- I located the file, dragged it into iTunes Apps pane
- Right-clicked the icon created for the app, selecting Show In Finder (I have a Mac)
- Selected the .ipa file from my iTunes > Mobile Applications folder for upload to TestFairy.com's Upload page

This still could be totally on TestFairy's end, but after seeing that the recipient of my email could not view the .ipa file I sent, I am suspicious that something is corrupting the file when it is created.

I would use different versions of LiveCode, but I recently was told by Neil to use 7.0.5 for my work, as it is compatible with Xcode 6.3 (whereas the older versions of LiveCode required other hoops to jump through to even be able to produce the Standalone application in the first place).

Any help/tips/ideas would be great; I'm not very familiar with any frameworks outside of LiveCode.

All the best!
Phil E.

Update!

Turns out that it was on their end, solved now, so please disregard!

Just wanted to stay as on top of this as I could.
