Testing iOS apps on real iPhone

The short of it... I don't have an iPhone to test/develop iOS apps in LiveCode...

- Don't need to use the phone part of an iPhone. I just need to be able to use WIFI on it.
- Want a REAL iPhone, no virtual software emulator or iPad (need to see how things look on the smaller screen).
- Very happy with my Samsung Note 4 for Android testing.
- Would be interested in an iPod Touch but it doesn't include all the sensors I want that are in the iPhone.

Planning on buying some version of an iPhone... just not sure which?... 5s vs 6, locked versus unlocked? Just need an iPhone with WIFI capability and sensors that will work.

Any other developers out there who had this kind of problem and what did you do or in retrospect, what should you have done? Hoping for some input before I invest time/money into some setup that may not work very well. Thanks for your input.

Unless I'm terribly wrong about this (and I could be, as I'm relatively ignorant about LiveCode) you may have a problem testing an app developed with LiveCode and actually testing it on a real, physical iPhone.

Currently, LiveCode doesn't support the most recent version of X-code, i.e. version 7.2. So, in order to get your app onto an iPhone, you'd need to use X-code 7.1. However, X-code 7.2 is required when working with the latest iOS installed on the phone. It's kind of a Catch-22 I, for one, haven't yet figured a way out of.

Perhaps somebody here knows ---or can figure out--- a workaround.

Correction! LC does support Xcode 7.2.1 iOS 9.2 and many of us have multiple Xcode versions installed on our computers for testing.
No "workaround" needed:
In the iOS standalone settings you can set the build to be compatible all the way back to 5.1.1 so the iOS version that's on your phone won't matter. I test the exact same apps on my iPhone 6s and iPhone 4.

Yes! I was "terribly wrong" about it. LiveCode does support the most recent X-Code. My problem wasn't with X-Code but with how I had set the permissions.
