Private Messaging Blocked?

I just received a PM, but when I go to retrieve it, I'm told "private messaging has been disabled". If that's the case, then who PM'ed me?

I *did* check off the "Notify me when a reply is posted" to messages I posted to the forum, but that should send me an email, not a PM...

Any ideas?

That must have been an attack by a hacker. I got a PM too. It is time to update to phpBB3...

I got in in time to actually read it - it was a link to some russian spam bot - I notified Heather, so perhaps she's switched off PMs until they get it cleaned out...

Correct. I have disabled private messaging as it was being abused. Until such time as we can prevent this happening again or upgrade private messaging will remain disabled - sorry for any inconvenience!
