Any recommendations for where to get some good quality icons for us on Mac and Windows?
I'm specifically looking for icons that will indicate adding a new entry, deleting an entry, editing an entry, saving an entry but I'm sure I'll need icons for other similar data maintenance functions.
Thanks,
Pete

Rev is a reseller of icon sets from Icon People:

There are also from free ones - try a web search for "free database icons".
I rarely use prefab icons these days, as I find sooner or later I'll run into a need for an icon not included in the set, or a different size, etc. Too hard to try to make a new icon match the look of someone else's set, so lately I've been going back to an old vector clip art library to get basic shapes, and then bring those into Fireworks to apply various style details to them. A bit of work, but at least it keeps me from that "uh oh" moment of finding I don't have an icon I need.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Since I made the post, I found a couple of free icon libraries that provide MOST of what I need, but not all and trying to mix and match between the icon sets looks weird. Unfortunately, I have zero artistic skills so I guess I'll have to keep searching for an icon set that has what I need in there, free or for purchase.

I like Axialis IconWorkshop, precisely because my artistic skills are limited to stick figures - and Axialis allows you to put together icons by combining primitives.
Definitely worth a look.

Hi,
Here's a small collection of links. Frankly, I rarely use ready-made icons, because my need for icons usualyl is very specific. Also, most freeare icon collections are small and lack essential toolbar icons.

Pete, it may not be precisely what you want, but if you are still looking for good sources of icons. I recommend IconPot. Not only high quality, but the important thing (for me) is that site only lists icons which free to use for both personal and commercial projects.
