Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
Hi,
lc902community is acting weird on Linux Ubuntu Mate i noticed today.
Also got a strange message, see image below. Which popped up when trying to close the ide.
I got spontaneously crashing of the ide, opening a card with a browser widget on it to show a pdf stalls opening the card. Slow reacting on mouseclicks.
This even happens when i turn Messages off and then open the stack and try to go to the card.
The same stack does run correct on windows.
strange... Regards,
Sphere

This is an "old chestnut" that I have previously
experienced on Xubuntu (= Ubuntu + XFCE) and MX Linux (=Debian + XFCE + meddlesome people).
You should find this has been documented previously.

Thanks Richmond, i've seen in the bug tracker also a report about the browser widget. Maybe related to this.
Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
I suppose it could also mean someone at HQ is a James Taylor or Beatles fan

I saw a report of that message quite some time ago, and may have even seen it makes once. I don't recall how it was resolved, even if it was part of the IDE or a plugin.
Not much help, I know, but at least you're not entirely alone.
If you have a recipe for setting it I'd be happy to help diagnose and fix it. Without a recipe, hopefully you won't see it again and we can chalk it up to gremlins.

Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
It seems it has to do with the browser widget, there is a bug report for it https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=21410 and some reports in the Linux part of the forum i saw.
So the recipe to see it is easy, i tried to open a pdf in the browser widget. Which works good in windows.
Then it starts to act weird and if you then try to close the stack or the ide, you get this message.

FWIW I have *never* gotten the Browser widget to work on linux. At least it no longer crashes LC when it doesn't work.

Ok thanks.
Then for Linux i think i'll choose to launch a pdf reader instead of using the browser to show it.

Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
Try it again using at least v8.1.2. Since I don't use the later versions consistently, I actually followed this lesson, it worked here on a non supported distro (once I actually read the lesson and added the missing graphic object

Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
i can try, but is revBrowserOpenCef the same as the browser used in the Browser Widget?

Hard to say, but we know it'll use something. If not, it'll use something else. A helpful feedback dialog is provided for clarity.

Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
I suspect it is, Richard would know far better than I though. For what it is worth, when I did that test it is on an unsupported distro with an xfce desktop.
I made a new stack, dragged and sized a graphic square on the card, dragged the browser widget, a field, and that button, named everything as the lesson has it, and clicked the button, and that webpage came up. Will it work with a pdf? No clue, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't.

Re: Whatś this message i linux Ubuntu Mate 64bits
thanks Bogs.
I did the same as you but with lc902, it immidiately crashed.
i'm using sha3 in the stack so i can download 812 to test but it has no further use as it does not support sha3

Ah, sorry, can't test 9.x on this system (so far). Maybe someday
