Kind of like when you say things like "Did you read the entire manual that comes in PDF format to understand one point about [x] in LiveCode".
When did I write that?
In those exact words? Never, everything after the word 'manual' was my addition, but if you would like, I'm sure I can find plenty of examples of the words "How far have you read the manual" as the only line in your reply to someone asking a question.

Lots of times, this was before the present configuration of the manual which is now split up in to separate sections and is fairly well organized when it was presented in the single 378 page User guide.

I seem to remember getting one of those types of replies myself, to an early question. Someone else you answered in that way said what I was thinking at the time, but I was a little more restrained in my answer (back then).

Have you considered interpreting the question at face value as written?

If I had meant to write "Read the entire manual first!" I would have written that. But I did not.

When I write that question, it's in earnest. I frequently find it very helpful to assess how far someone has gone in their learning up to that point, so I can better anticipate how to approach the answer.

Since the User Guide is both the single most comprehensive guide we have and is available near the top of the Help menu, it seems a good place to start for bringing me up to speed with understanding where the learner is coming from.

You know, you and I have been derailing an awful lot of topics lately. Nothing in the last several posts has anything to do with the question at hand.

You mean, like how you interpreted what I wrote only a few posts ago, which I thought was plainly interpretable at face value? Yes, I interpreted it as having nothing to do with the question I got that answer too, however, I completely agree there is a lot of information in the manual.

@redfield and anyone else who was interested in this thread, I apologize for taking this so far off topic.

Maybe you're thinking too hard. Happens to all of us. Occupational hazard.

If something seems unclear, just ask. Usually beats assuming. I find that helpful in many areas of life.
