Old style computer bank lights...

Post by bogs »

In this thread, Richmond brought up background coloring of parts of a table, and today as I was re-reading it, for some reason still unexplained, it made me think about the old style consoles, such as were used in the original Star Trek...
Gimme one light, gimme one light baby...
Gimme one light, gimme one light baby...
Being that I have almost nothing to do today, I whipped this up.
Too much time on my hands? Sure !

I did wonder how you managed to fill the cells completely with colour.

And now you know hee hee.

Btw, that graphic object was purely gratuitous, used only for the rounded corners, the original example didn't have it, as shown in this .gif file...

*Edit - before anyone points it out, I do know there are a LOT OF easier ways to achieve this effect, it was just the thought of doing it with a field that was intriguing to me. If I were trying for something more complicated looking, I'd have resorted to all graphics for the lights, or possibly a combo of graphics and labels.

Haha, nice. Last year I turned an old Android tablet into an approximation of a Star Trek PADD for a prop during our Screwball Rally fundraiser. viewtopic.php?p=183397#p183397
I don't have any great screenshots any more. There's a short video of some work in progress but nothing too finished. :(

Well post it up son, post it up :D

I live for time wasters like the above, especially if I can mix in some old timey looks with em. For instance, I play a lot with clocks...

and a while ago, I was messing with gears (all parts of this designed by myself)

I find it great fun and some times more rewarding to create a good time waster than an actual useful program. I'm goofy that way

Yeah, I'll have to find it somewhere in a WhatsApp archive, save it, shrink/rename/host somewhere and link it.

thanks bogs,

you can click on more things than said. The hinges are moveable the four coloured square also and clicking on the "water tank" creates a wave on top

All in the spirit of utter uselessness...

At MacHack when it came to choose the "winner" hack if someone mentioned "useful" it made it unlikely that the hack would be considered for a nomination...

Kind regards
Bernd

LOL. I'm afraid to look at the scripts, I'm sure there's math in there.

You won't win the hack thing with that editor, Bernd, as I was using it I thought of at least 50 times I could have used it just in the last year :(
