searching and solved

Post by kwnz » Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:04 pm

I would have first searched for an answer but there is no search box on any of my pages, is this because I am a recently joined member???
Secondly How do I mark a question as "solved". Thank you

Hi kwnz
You should have a search box at the top right of your page.
But if i'm honest i often get better results from googling the question in mind (often this will link directly to the forum).

To mark a question as solved, i personally edit my original question and prepend "[SOLVED]" to the subject line - i haven't seen another way to do this.

Hope that helps

Thank you dunbarx, as I have recently joined the forum (again) I do not have permission to view attachments, however I am sure my page is just like yours sans the search box,

Thank you Stam, Yes you are correct but I do not, hence the question.
I will however use your method of marking solved posts.

Kwnz.

Post a handful of messages here to pass the minimum. We will not mind.

Because there is no reason, and nobody ever heard of, what you are describing. So let's make sure we are seeing the same thing.

SOLVED partially: OK guys, I see that the search box is there when I access any page without logging in, but disappears as soon as I do login. I did not see this on my main desktop Mac because it logs me in automatically and my MacBook does not (but now of course will). So no problem really as I can now search as a guest. So maybe something to do with my newly arrived status, still seems a bit strange though.

It is strange, but I can't reproduce it and I don't see anything off with your account which might explain it.

If you can spare a moment it might be useful for diagnostics if you're able to reproduce the issue in a newly-created account.

For Richard Gaskin. Thank you for your assistance. I have created a new account- user name = kwnzTest, for diagnostics at your suggestion. This account behaves the same way ie:- Displays search box when not logged in and search box disappears once logged in. If you need anything else please ask.

Kwnz.

You are up to 8 posts. Post three more (we will wait), and then you can send a screenshot of your page.

I recently learned that only 7 (SEVEN) postings are neccessary to post links etc.
So go ahead, Kwnz, and happy posting! :-)

This is a shot of the test account I provided for diagnostics (kwnzTest), you can see that the search box is missing. My real account (kwnz) now has oddly rectified itself...
So, for me this is now not an issue but I will leave the post unsolved for the time being in case anyone has the curiosity to pursue it further. Thanks guys. FYI- 12 post to reach this status.
