Hello Forum,
This weekend, I was looking at the biggest news stories, concerning the recent CES show in Las Vegas, and it caught my eye that one of the major selling points for one of the most popular new eBook reader software programs was that it could be used as an audio text reader (like revSpeak) AND that it could even have a cursor follow the text, indicating what word was being spoken at the time.
Nearly two years ago (Feb 7, 2007), I had suggested the same valuable improvement to revSpeak so that whenever a word was being spoken, it would generate a LOCATION VALUE. In this manner, it would be easy to have a cursor accompany the words being spoken.
Since eBook reading software is all the rage right now, I believe it would behoove RunRev more than ever to implement this popular feature.
Moreover, since RunRev has its roots in HyperCard, which was deeply involved in creating educational tools (just as RunRev is now), such a feature would be highly valuable to people creating software for millions of reading-challenged students around the world.
It's definitely an idea whose time has come...
Happy New Year everyone. Cheers,
deeverd
