Hard to duplicate but ...
Sometimes, if I double-click the LC app icon, or a stack, I get the initial flash of LC opening but it doesn't progress and stays closed. Invariably, a fresh double-click will open it and everything proceeds as normal. LC 9.6.5 (RC1) on Mac OSX Big Sur.

I don't know if this is even remotely connected, but on Windows you can start LiveCode and see nothing, try again and maybe you'll see it, or still nothing. Checking the task manager shows LiveCode processes running as many times as you tried. Killing them all off then lets a new instance run and display usually without fuss.
Typically ONE of the LiveCode instances killed off will be the updater process. I don't know if the behaviour is linked, but is the updater somehow involved?

I have experienced the same problem with MacOS 12 beta series (Monterey).
Re: Hard to duplicate but ...
So, should I report it as a bug?

You could, but it is doubtful that it will have any result.
