Snow Leopard Installation

Post by nixwillprevail » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:18 pm

Hello, totally new to runrev and all its buddies, fairly novice at programming myself, I am really anxious to test these tools, but am having a problem installing.

When I click on the installer, it apears in the dock for a second, and then disappears. I have been able to get it installled on a spare pc (Vista 64bit) in my office, so at least I can see what the install process should look like and achieve.

I have checked the installer and it is listed as a PPC type of app, do I need a binary?

Do I need to be booted up in 64bit mode or 32bit mode? does it matter? Are these tools simply not working on Snow Leopard yet?

Thanks in advance for any troubleshooting tips you can offer.

I am running Mac OSX 10.6.1 macbook that has the capability of booting in 64bit.

Can Anyone confirm?

Post by nixwillprevail » Wed Nov 04, 2009 3:17 am

Hello, so after a few more hours of googling and playing around with installing of 'RevStd350Full.dmg' I have now also successfully installed in my old G4, PPC that is running the latest version of Leopard.

Can anyone confirm whether this product is working on anyone's installations of Snow Leopard? Or am I just being a Dum Dum Head?

I really do not want to build in a windows version via virtualization or on my old, slow G4.

Hi Andrew,

I am running Rev 3.5 on a MacMini with OS X 10.6.1 here at work and and at home with no problems!

So don't be shy, just install Rev and be happy :)

I have Revolution Enterprise version 4.0 running OK on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.2.

Version 4.5dp-2 however does not work at all when creating stand-alone applications - They just crash when starting.
(No matter whether built as Uni, PPC or Intel)
I will be bringing this up on another thread.

The Rev 4.0 installer is a 'legacy' PPC application - so Snow Leopard can use it just fine as long as the 'Rosetta' PPC emulation layer is installed (it's an optional install when you setup Snow Leopard, but MacOSX will download and install it the first time you need it, so no problem there). Just go ahead with the installation, everything will run fine, both on your SnowLeopard-powered Intel Mac and on your PowerPC G4 Mac.
I believe Rev 4.5 will have a 'universal' installer with both PPC and x86 code.
