Venturing forth . . . Mac OS 13

Post by richmond62 » Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:30 am

In the light of various postings about short-comings re LC on Mac OS 13
I wonder if I should go for what was offered to me this morning on cranking
up my Mac Mini having come back from Germany:

"With 9.6.3 Community version, showing the message box, or the script window of a button, crashes LiveCode right away."

Let's see... should I start a 4GB download of a *beta* operating system? Hmmm....

My Mac Mini got "all stroppy" telling me I needed an extra 12 GB for installation (it had 17 GB free), so I went to bed, having set up the 12.5 final version install.

Sure your MacMini supports macOS 13? Mine doesn't... :-(
The system requirements read "MacMini: 2018 and newer".

Not so lucky if LiveCode 9.6.3 goes pear shaped.

The installer stinks:

1. It downloads and weighs in at 12 GB.

2. It then claims it needs 12 GB more space to install: but I could NOT get the thing off the ground until I have shifted about 24 GB of guff off onto backup drives.

When I have finished copying all the stuff back onto my home drive I will crank up several versions of LiveCode and see what gives.

Can't wait. Colin reported that standalones made with 9.6.3 worked but the IDE crashed on simple things,

LiveCode 8.2.0 (dp 2) works without a hitch.

LiveCode 9.6.3 'Community' works without a hitch.

LiveCode 9.6.8 works without a hitch.

LiveCode 10.0.0 (dp 4) works without a hitch.

ALL I have done so far is start up each version, open a new stack, run a command in the
messageBox, and opened a cardScript.

I can try anything else that anyone suggests tomorrow (i.e. in about 18 hours from now).

Oh, and my Big, Heavy and Fairly Hairy Devawriter stack functions 100% in LC 9.6.3.

Sounds good. Colin said opening the messagebox in 9.6.8 community crashed LC, so I guess that's fixed in the current build.
