Unable to post...

Post by stam » Thu Sep 15, 2022 8:33 am

Hi all,

not sure where to post this - i seem to have problems posting to the 'Windows' subforum. No matter what i do, i get an error "Message not found".
Randomly and rarely i can post but 99% of the time i just get this error.

This doesn't seem to affect any other subforum - any ideas?

S.

I did a quick review of your permissions for the Windows forum in the Moderator Control Panel and saw nothing offhand that looked amiss.

I also tested the forum itself with a quick message, and it worked for me.

That said, my moderator tasks here are fairly routine, mostly just deleting spam, so there may be ways to diagnose what you're seeing that I'm either unfamiliar with or may be available only to admins but not moderators.

If the problem persists I would suggest writing to support AT LiveCode.com to see what Heather might be able to do to remedy this.

Hi Richard - just to feed back, that was indeed helpful.
It turns out the string "cmd slash ctrl" (no spaces and slash as "/") causes the forum engine to return 404, which gives the error i reported. Who new...
I must have included this in some form or other in all posts and just kept getting the "page not found" error.
Changing this to "cmd|ctrl" sorted the issue!

Robin Miller from LC figured it out somehow ;)

Apparently he tracked this down to a security restriction triggered by "cmd/c" and has tweaked this now. Shouldn't be a problem now...
Weird unforeseen effects ;)
