Ripple graphic effect
about 6 months ago I came across a demonstration stack with several graphic effects.
I am trying to find it again.
the examples included a ripple effect like a stone in a pond. the stack had adjustable settings and pictures that you could apply the effects to.
can anyone send me a link to it please?

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Hi user#606
you probably saw the "Core Image Visual Effects" stack. Look for it here in your application folder, in your Revolution folder/Resources/Examples/
e.g. Applications/Revolution Enterprise/4.0.0-gm-1/Resources/Examples/Core Image Sampler.rev"

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Hi user#606,
because of your post I remembered that I played around with some of the core image effects from the example stack.
I used the core image effect, which operates on images to do a card to card transition. Curl and ripple are my favorites. To make a card to card transition I take a snapshot of the actual card and the next card and do a core image effect on them and delete them afterwards. So the switch from one card to the next is animated with core image. Needs MacOS 10.4 and later, graphic card 64 Mb and greater and a faster machine is advisable.
The sample stack is uploaded to RevOnline as "visualEffects transitions", or search for Bernd

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I must have read every graphic post and rev related website to find it, but it was right under my nose.
However, I see it only works with the Mac. The ripple was ideal for my purpose, because here in the UK, the Building Regulations are changing and water efficiency is one topic that I have written software for, so a water ripple would have been ideal.
Does anyone know how to create that effect in Windows?

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Hi a-revuser,
Scott Rossi of Tactile Media has a ripple effect that he does natively in Rev. It is not quite as "rippely" as the core image effect on the mac, but is very nice indeed. And I think it can be adapted.
go
http://www.tactilemedia.com/
look for "Software" then "Revolution tutorials and demos" -> "see all tutorials" -> ripple
You also might want to look at his other tutorials which are brilliant examples what you can do with Rev (if your name is "Scott Rossi" of course
)

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Hi,
Scott Rossi certainly has a gift for graphic effects.
His ripple will do nicely.
It was also interesting to see how it can be done.

Re: Ripple graphic effect
hi a-revuser,
I did a weblet with a water tank and a ripple / drop on top of it, if you are in the water business you might want to have a look at it.
http://berndniggemann.on-rev.com/abarrel/
in my experience it takes a while for the revlet to respond, opening a new blank page in the browser and deleting it right away made the revlet respond.
the ripple is not quite as complicated to make as Scott Rossi's, it is a oval graphic with a strokegradient set to spiral, color black to white, linesize 4 and the ink in "blending" set to blendoverlay
the stacks are under
http://berndniggemann.on-rev.com/barrel/
the one with the "drop" in the name being the most recent
The topic came up on the list: how to do a self containing group with a water tank that can be copied and pasted without interfering with each other. This is my attempt at it.

Re: Ripple graphic effect
Hi Bernard,
I have just had chance to look at your effect and that too was most interesting. I will have a more detailed look at the workings this weekend.
I could use any of the effects I have seen, with adaption, the ripple would liven up the splash screen in a subtle way.
(yes, I see the pun, but who cares!)
Thank you all for your assistance, it will lighten up a boring product.
