Thank you, Sparkout. I had thought he was making an application.
If LC hasn't set the Registry properly, and/or isn't using the relaunch message correctly, that would be a bug which should be addressed quickly.
It's been a while since I installed LC on Windows. Isn't there an option related to this during install?

@Sparkout @Richard ...
Yes, it seems so that it is a problem with Windows only. I should not have to create a workaround. I assume most here are not using Windows otherwise it would already have been a discussion point. Of course, I can open files from the IDE, but it is not as convenient in most cases.
I will soon open a bug report and then we may receive an answer if it is a bug, or a feature, or we missed a point.
Personally, I think, it is worth a value in the Settings or a global command: Open new stacks from the desktop in a new instance of LiveCode, or open them in the currently running instance.
Thank you for all contributions. I may spend time (not just now) to implement a workaround and share with others interested. But it will involve redirecting the opening call of LiveCode.exe itself. So -- it is not a good solution.

You may want to try reinstalling, paying close attention to dialogs that show up. IIRC there's one either during installation or launch that asks if you want to set the Registry to associate the file type with LC.
For others making apps: I found the discussion of file associations is nicely handled in the User Guide on p445-449.

Richard, the file type is associated with LiveCode.exe, and the registry shows it. Otherwise, it would not show the icon and launch. But maybe something else in the registry is wrong.
