The design of the revmedia application icon (blue sphere behind the R) is sooo nice

. That little sparkle on the red band around the R (in the installer I believe) works so nicely!

Any chance to convince these very talented iconpeople to contribute a few icons to the imagelibrary? The metacard compatible icon really start to look too outdated to use them.

Ooh yes - I do agree. I think this would be a relatively cheap way to remove one of the sharp edges where a new potential client cruising the product would get a very whiffy impression.

The "Made with" logos have always looked pretty cheesy, too, and could benefit from an update.

Yup there is no doubt about it, those icons suck...
It would be time to think about making vector (ans not raster) icons with all this resolution independence comming up.

Will Revolution support resolution independence in OS 10.5 ?

I would like to know this also. I ran a rev standalone build in the developer preview build and there is a few visual issues already there with the UI of current objects and windows.

I do know, Apple is allowing 3rd party developers use of there hi Res button icons lib, but they have yet fully documented how to call them.

I was thinking that it would be cool if the Tango icon set was included as an image library. It is already extensive and complete, plus it looks really good on all platforms. If you want to check them out: http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Gallery. And they are licensed by the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike License, so as long as Rev gave them credit and offered the icons to anyone who wanted them, there shouldn't be any legal problems.

Tango only allows there icons to be used with open source programs.

That was a creative thought - using the Tango library - and I got all excited about it - but I took a look at the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike License, and as Obleo says, it includes the requirement

So that's not an option, sadly.

I found tango a few months ago and got excited, but knew there had to be some catch so I emailed them to get the full scoop.

They did forward me to over a dozen icon artists with royalty free icon sets for commercial use with software for under $50.00 that look just as good as those sets that go for over $300.00 by other icon studios.

Not sure if the forum allows me to link to them, may be send a private message and I can forward there web links.

So that's not an option, sadly.

I was under the impression that by work they meant the icons themselves, not the work that the icons are included in. So Rev would have to distribute the icons and any modifications of those icons freely, but not Revolution itself.

P.S. I do agree that the lack of a nice set of icons, and the inclusion of some not quite so nice icons, is not quite such a good thing. Everything else about the trial I went through, newsletters etc. is so spot on!
