Upgrading to 4.6.2 on a Mac

Post by friday »

Hi

I am new to LiveCode and also new to Mac OS X. I have just upgraded to LiveCode 4.6.2. All went well but in Applications I now have "LiveCode 4.6.app" and "LiveCode 4.6.2.app". Is this normal? It seems I can run the old version as well as the new. Do I need both versions? Can I save space by getting rid of 4.6?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Geoff,

this is new since LC 4.x!

Every new app is now a selfcontained application package named with the
versionnumber so you can use different versions at the same time if necessary.

But of course if you don't need older versions you can delete them without any problem! :D

Ah, I see. As I've only just started writing code, I guess I won't need the old version then.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

As a veterain developer I've been saving my install sets just to be sure.

So in your case of just starting and have not produced an app that needs its development environment saved,
then yes you can remove the previous version.

Others who have produced an app that should have its development environment saved can either leave the
previous version installed or save the installation file and then uninstall it.
