Barcode Reading With Runrev

Post by glynster » Fri Sep 14, 2007 1:52 pm

Hi

Is it possible and does there exist any plugin or addon to get runrev to be able to read barcodes from a scanner? If not is it possible to use any kind of generic external dll or what not?

Just wondering if anyone has already solved this problem or seen an example in any form. I basically want to use runrev for creating databases and in one instance I want to use a barcode scanner for handling stock

Many thanks

Glyn

Hi Glyn,

Normally, barcode scanners send textinput to wherever the text insertion point happens to be. So, with the right barcode scanner and accompanying fonts, you can read barcodes with Rev.

Barcode reader

Post by mluka » Sun Sep 16, 2007 4:03 pm

Hi, glynster.

I'll be writing an application soon that will use bar code readers (and Epson thermal printers, BTW).

Could you post in this thread comments, suggestions, ideas, that come up as a result of what you'll be doing with barcode readers?

I, for one, would certainly appreciate them.

And I'll reciprocate as soon as as I start actively coding.

Best regards.

Interestingly enough I got this phone with a barcode reader called QuickMark I think they read their own proprietary code as well as the new standard QRcode. See http://www.quickmark.com.tw/En/basic/index.asp I am interested in a stand alone barcode printer, theirs is on the web. It would offer great application opportunities. On the PC a webcam can be used to read the barcode as they use the camera on the phone.

Hi Glyn, I'm from Japan.

I've just made app by RunRev Enterprise that is for stocktaking using Barcode Reader.

I think it is very sinple and easy to read Barcode using Barcode Reader, because allmost all (I guess) Reader can be used without any plugin or addon.

it is just like Keboard.

You can see my app on the next URL.

It is very sorry that all the pages below is written by Japanese.
