Itunes Syncing Deleting Test Apps.

Post by FireWorx » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:04 am

I have been testing my application on a few iPads and a few iPhones. I recently upgraded to 5.0 and had my iPhone set up to sync every time I plug it in to the PC to charge etc.

I noticed that my test Apps that were built in live code and are now being tested on the iPhone and iPads do not survive the iTunes Sync operation. They are in fact deleted. Is it because the App never went through the Apple submission process?

I have switched the preferences in iTunes to manual syncing for now to try and keep the app on the iPhone but is that expected behavior?

Yeah, Found that out the hard way, with a test database that wasn't backed up.
Not drastic, just a lot of work to get the data back in!

Also, I write a lot of simple apps just for myself, they all went away, and I had to rebuild them.

Ah well

Cheers

Thanks,
I am fairly close to submitting an app to Apple for approval. It would be nice if Livecode would fix the inverting flash screen in iPad landscape mode because its going to be the first thing the Ap Judge or a customer is going to see n make me look like dog doo.

C'mon how difficult can it be to fix a blatant error that is killing our curb appeal? Guess I'll give up on the flash screen idea but I liked it when it worked in 4.6. It Doesn't look nearly as good upside down in 5.0 though. But have to admit 5.0 rocks as far as scrolling and zooming and refreshing the screen in Safari. They were not lying about the enhanced speed of 5.0.

The issues about the splash screen flipping are, as you clearly state, rather frustrating to say the least. It is clear that there is a problem as soon as an App is launched for testing and evaluation purposes although there have been some comments on this forum where Apps have been approved despite this.

The speed boost is very significant and welcome. :D

We have an App waiting to be submitted but are delaying this until the release of LC 5.0.1 which has a fix for this as well as other issues. We understand this is available to test as part of the LC developer program but is not yet released. There are other bizarre aspects such as screenshot appearing upside down on an email attachment! :(

The iTunes sync issue for development Apps can easily catch the unwary and on this occasion, both the LC and iOS releases actually coincided.

I published an app under 4.6.4 as the release stated it was iOS5 compatible, but of course we now know that LC 5.0.0 was the real one.
I have been waiting for the release of 5.0.1, thinking it was imminent.

Now I am getting bad reviews because of screen issues with the current release.

I guess I will release the 5.0.0 version with the flipping splash screen, as I will probably only get comments, not complaints.

At least the new release will hid the bad reviews, (unless they click 'All"

Here is a red neck answer to the flipping flash screen problem. Invert a copy of your logo and place it below the upright one and then center them both on the splash screen. It could probably actually look cool if you placed the reflection in a glassy pond or something and had the sky with a similar hue. That way when it flips it looks like perhaps you planned it?

I have a really cool splash screen of a ripping structure fire with my crew fighting the blaze but it just doesn't look as inspiring when it's upside down.

I would have thought there would have been a fix for this by now.
