Nexus 7 / Jelly Bean

Post by Doug Lyman »

Anyone have an app developed with LiveCode 5.5.1 that runs on the Nexus 7? I have an app that runs on the Kindle Fire and on the Motorola Xoom (ICS) - but does not run on the Nexus 7 (JB).

I'm also interested in writing some applications for the Nexus7 with LiveCode. Is it ready for prime time on the Nexus 7?

Thanks,
Michael

The problem is bigger than originally thought. In further testing, my app does not run on the Nexus 7 nor does it run on the Galaxy Nexus phone (also Jelly Bean). To eliminate my code as a variable I created a small "Hello world!" app with only a single label on a single card. Same result (flash of black screen then back to home screen). It appears that LiveCode cannot deploy to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at this time. The two fore-mentioned devices are among the hotest on the market right now. We need a resolution ASAP.

+1 Agreed!

I'd like to start working with a Nexus 7 right away. Any input from the developers on when Jelly Bean will be supported?

+1 Confirmed

My app was working perfectly on Android 4.0.4, just upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the app no longer launches. The device is a Samsung Galaxy S.

We need this solved. Incremental upgrades to the Android OS should not break apps like that. This will break all apps on the Google Play app store. Any LiveCode application built for Android will now require an update after RunRev releases a the bug fix.

I would be nice to think that someone from the runrev was reading the forums and responding to user's questions, but this does not seem to be the case.

I emailed user support and was informed that support for Jelly Bean would not come until the next version of LiveCode. They not willing to give me a release date. All in all, a pretty unsatisfying response.

Next version as in LiveCode 6? Or next version as in 5.5.3... because there is a huge difference...

Damn!!!! I really need this.
