SVG or EPS or PDF (vector) export?

Post by DevBoyLars »

Hi there,
is it possible to build an App, which lets the user 'paint' something on the card and export this into a SVG-/EPS-/PDF(vector)-file?

SVG - No, EPS - Only on Linux I believe, but PDF works provided the vectors were created in LC. See "open printing to pdf" in the dictionary.

AFAIK it isn't possible to convert a "paint" image to vectors in LC without a great deal of scripting, but I may be wrong! I'd be interested too if there is an easy way.

Hi Paul,
so if my App would draw lines/boxes on a card and this card will print to PDF, this PDF contains vectors and not a (to) bitmap-converted graphic?

Yes, that's correct.

I only did a quick test, but the PDF imported into Illustrator with all vectors intact, no sign of any bitmaps.
