Even before a LiveCode "Newbie" ...

Post by alexransome » Fri May 24, 2013 2:11 pm

Hi,

I have installed LiveCode Community to my MacBook. I have now read that I need to install xCode. I have downloaded xCode and installed it, now what I read is that I have to install some SDK's.

Where do these come from the Apple downloads for developers website (would post a link, but I guess I'm sooo new I'm not allowed yet)

and untick all but the iOS options to the left.

And am I right in thinking I need to install all of them in order to make a universal (across many versions of iOS) iOS app?

Thanks for any answers.

Before you go too far down this road -- the Community license is not compatible with the App Store so you can't create iOS apps with that version if you plan to upload there. You'll need to purchase the Commercial version of LiveCode for that. If you are just testing with the free developer account, you can test on the simulator but not on a real device.

Instructions for setting up for iOS are here:

If you are asking about the category list at the left of the downloads area in the developer portal, I don't think you need everything. The iOS SDK is required of course, and it includes all versions of iOS. The developer tools are handy but aren't required. The other things don't really apply.
