First, congratulations on LCU. Most impressive.
I am currently using the trial version and this indeed could be the reason for my questions.
1. Submissions - Don't work. Get db error when I have tried. If this is a trial version error then a more helpful error message would be good.
2. Resources - in doing the unit on images and controls the instructions refer to obtaining a folder of images from the BYU server. ??? How is this done? Does registration provide a log in to this?
So if both the above are limitations of the trial version then this needs to be made clear.
Or if these are hang overs from the BYU course then the links need redirection to something on RunRev's servers?
Yes?

Click on Help and use the FAQ link.
In they describe how to set the file association.
The rev extension is what made it work for me.

Re: Resources and submissions
Dear jameshale,
Thank you for your request.
I have tested submissions on the trial version of LiveCode academy and cannot replicated the db error message you are experiencing.
Which assignment are your trying to submit? Could you also let me know what operating system you are using?
In regards to the resources, I believe the following is the folder that contains the images-
http://chum210.byu.edu/Resources/images/
If you let me know the specific page number in the "working with images" section, I will happily look in to having this updated to reflect the above link.
Kind Regards,
Neil Roger

Re: Resources and submissions
Hi Neil,
The first error is concerned with the robot control code submission.
On pressing the "Submit Program" button I get an alert stating the following:
"Upload successful. Confirmation ID is: revdberr, Database Error: No such function: LAST_INSERT-_ID"
Since posting initially and then replicating to answer your question I have discovered the FAQ which I am sure wasn't there when I hit these issues. The FAQ mentions the above bug, states it has been fixed in the registered version and will soon be fixed in the trial version. So this has been resolved.
The other submission issues I had seem to also have been resolved as they all worked this morning.
As for the image link, yes I can certainly browse there and download individual image files but I can't download a folder as directed on page 2 of the "Exploring images assignment."
I am directed to login but I don't have any credentials unless they are what I use to log into LCU, but then where are the instructions for logging into the server? The instructions read as if, having logged into the server, the directory will appear as a volume available via a normal file I/O dialog. This certainly makes sense in a local network setting but not so much over the the wider network of the internet.
The FAQ only mentions the server in relation to updates, not accessing resources as directed in this assignment.
It could be that this is all explained on registering the application but it is certainly not explained for trial users (or if it is, I can't find it.)

Re: Resources and submissions
James,
I just now discovered that RunRev had set up this forum. So sorry I haven't replied before now.
The robot program submission was a known error and is fixed in v. 1.1.4, which is now on the LCU download page.
The FAQ appeared a couple of days after the initial release last week, and I'm actively updating it as questions come in. We're also working on a better online help site.
Regarding the image links, I am revisiting all of the lessons and removing the remaining references to CHum and BYU and will be including all of the required resources in the LCU download package. That has been done with the Exploring Images assignment, but I believe it is in LCU v. 1.1.5, which I only sent to RunRev this morning. Because of the LiveCode 6.1 release they haven't had time yet to post it to the download page. Check with support@runrev.com to see if it's available yet.
My goal over the last couple of days has been to make sure that all of the resources needed in the trial version lessons are available in the initial download, since the Content Updates feature is disabled in the trial. Version 1.1.5 should have everything needed.
Thanks for your patience as we work the kinks out of this new application. Please let me know if you have any other questions or problems.

Thanks Devin.
Please be assured I appreciate the work in transitioning the course from local intraweb to out in the wild, so to speak.
