start using Modules

Post by martinjzu » Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:33 am

The RunRev product family currently offers three versions, which are tailored to three broad categories of users, and have a big gap in pricing. The idea I am now launching might help to tailor the product to more individual needs, and make it more appealing to a wider audience.

Once designed, the servers in the online shop can do the boring stuff of putting just the right mix of features and pricing together...

Short description of the idea: the core or basic application (RunRev 3.0 Lite ?!) offers the minimum on features to have a hassle free, simple, easy to learn environment. It can be used in many personal, and family situations. It's an excellent learning environment for the computer novice.... and it's not crippleware - does this sound like a rejuvenated HyperCard? ;-)

Features can be added as modules, or plugins which provide:

a) small units in particular fields op application

and/or

b) a more gradual, and granular increase in power of the environment.

If you "start using Modules", the product mix would provide tailor made answers to information needs - and create more happy RunRev users!

Just a "WILD" idea...

:-)

martinjzu,

There are losts of different options in the store already. All kinds of combinations of feature set/upgrade scheme are possible. A modular approach as you describe it would make things much less transparent and I don't think it is a good idea.

Best,

I got an recent email from run rev that the enterprise version is dropping dramatically in price.

Considering you really only buy at full price once and lower that full price for all upgrades. I do not see any thing wrong with the cost now they fixed the enterprise price point.

run rev lite? Rev Media is the starting IDE, need to move to studio they have a cross grade option.

the upgrade options by run rev are so much better than the way Real Basic , Unity, Torque, flash, QT etc. , does it.

Modules just confuse the whole thing. It seems hard enough to place an order with world pay as is from north america, it takes usually a week to process the order with the number of approvals needed to use that pay service.

I can not see waiting a week if a client comes to us asking for a product with a tight deadline for something that on a module. I ratter have it built in ready to go. Even if the first time I used those commands.
