LiveCode and Web

Post by YogiYang » Sat Sep 14, 2013 11:56 am

I am evaluating LiveCode and would like to know as to whether we can build web apps using LiveCode community edition or not?

I have read somewhere that it was possible to build web apps in RunRev Revolution Enterprise 4.x. So I though it would be possible in LiveCode also but I cannot find any settings in building web apps.

Someone please help me out.

TIA

Hi Yogi,

1. welcome to the forum! :D

2. You are probably talking about the browser plug-in, which let you display a stack in a webrowser?
This has been deprecated with version 5.x of Livecode, sorry.

So now how do we build web apps in LiveCode then?

Or this feature is dropped completely?

TIA

Hi Yogi,

if your definition of "web-app" is something that will run inside of an internet webbrowser
then the answer is no, this feature has been dropped.

Thank you for not shooting the messenger! 8)

You mean that this is some kind of a scripting support of LiveCode?

Hi Yogi,

"Livecode Server" is a server side scripting engine like PHP etc. but with the cool syntax of Livecode!

On the former browser plugin, and current ways to use LC to assist in making HTML apps:

On an alternative to HTML apps which provides far greater design freedom while retaining the benefits of centralized deployment:
