LAN Messenger

Post by carel » Sat Dec 14, 2013 8:21 pm

I'm looking for a decent LAN Messenger / Chat program (It does not have to be free) - I downloaded a few for a client of mine but none of them works well (I have one just called "Lan Messenger" which is free (I had it for years) - but it does not work with Windows 8)

If anyone can suggest one I would appreciate it - and - does anybody have any ideas to create one in LiveCode? - I would love to code one that has a "server" and clients that log in, as in my experience the peer to peer stuff does not work so well.

Another thing, I have about ten other questions / queries - should I create a topic for each, or can I just put them all in one topic and see what responses I get and take it from there?

Thanks,

Carel

In LC, click "Resources" in the toolbar, then open the bottom-most category, "Sample Projects", and there you'll find one named "Internet Chat" - may be a good starting point for what you want to make.

Hi Carel,

you may also want to look at revOnline
http://livecodeshare.runrev.com/stack/729/Chat-Server
a stack by Björnke von Gierke. He uses a similar system for a chat system

http://bjoernke.com/?target=chatrev

there is also a chat server for download at that page.

How is it clocking? :)

Kind regards
Bernd

Thanks Richard and Bernd.

Sorry for the late reply, I was away without proper internet access.
