Learning Run Rev

I am new to Run Rev and am using the trial version. I am coming from VB and Filemaker and want to make stand alone programs with more ease.

I have gone through all the videos and tutorials and have grasped a lot of how this works, but the user guide and docs are not in depth and just give an overview of how it works.

For instance, there is no refference to Card Scripts and Stack Scripts but in the example scripts they put a lot of the code there.

I guess my question is, does someone sell a more in depth guide or at leaste an organized list of commands and what they do that the A-Z deal in the docs.

I am hoping to buy the 2 for 249 deal they have but I want to make sure that I will be able to use this.

welcome to Revolution. There are a lot of tutorial resources on the Web you might want to look at. I recommend starting with the scripting conferences, that cover most of the basics. A pity that these are not continued at the moment.

As for books... I believe Dan Shafer's Revolution book is still available. It came in hard copy but also comes as a downloadable eBook along with a couple of other ones on specific topics:

And.. if you can get a hold of an old Hypercard book called The Complete Hypercard 2.2 Handbook by Danny Goodman, that is also a good resource since the concept and a lot of the commands and functions are the same.

Both books are good in helping one get started if you're new to programming or just new to Revolution.

Thanks you so much for the replies. I looked at some of the stuff late last night and it is just what I was looking for.

I wish the documentation was like it used to be in the fact that they had everything in categories like functions, commands etc instead of A-Z. I saw a picture of the old docs on a site. Oh well!!
