Instant-On Tools Palette

Post by Mikey » Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:50 pm

I am ALWAYS working on two monitors. Always. One is just not enough. I'm thinking of moving to three.

That said, I'd like some easier ways to deal with the tools palette and potentially the other windows in RR.

Shortcuts are a possibility, but what I'd really like is a combo that makes whatever window (say the tools palette) appear right under my mouse. It can go back (or even better, go away) when I'm done with it.

Come to think of it, I can see numerous windows in RR helping me with this feature - the properties palette, the application browser, etc. would all be nicer if they behaved in this way.

Hi Mikey,

Why don't you make a plugin to do this?

Just because I can hack RR to do what I want doesn't mean that I don't think it's a good idea in general. In fact, I have developed a few hacks to date that I have then proposed as features.

Hi Mikey,

Frankly, I don't think this feature is going to make it. At least not anytime soon. If you have a plugin that does this and you release the plugin as shareware or freeware and if the plugin appears to become extremely popular, it might get added sooner.

Under which bug number did you report this feature request to the QCC?

Best,

Mark

I didn't post this to BZ, since this newsgroup is available to Enterprise folks.

Mikey,

As long as you don't post your feature requests to the QCC, they are most likely to stay unconsidered. This subforum is only for discussing feature requests, before they are posted to the QCC. Don't expect the development team of RunRev Ltd to read this.

Best,

It's kind of weird that you only get access to this group if you are an Enterprise customer, but you can't expect the team to read it.
