Knockout in DropShadow

Hello,

I like to know what "knockout" does in "dropshadow" in graphic effect. I don't see any difference when it's checked or unchecked. When i choose dropshadow, knockout is checked by defalut.

I think it's better to turn off knockout effect if it uses more cpu or memory of the device. Will unchecking knockout help optimizing app performance?

It will be very appreciated if anyone tell me practical tips to optimize graphic effects to minimize the usage of memory or cpu of device.

I doubt there would be any significant change in computer resource usage either way.
