What is the SDK location for Xcode 7 on El Capitan?

Post by KiltedGreen » Sun May 29, 2016 4:08 pm

Hi all,

I'm losing the will to live here to do something apparently so simple.

I've developed 4 apps and they are on the App Store. I'm using a standard Xcode 7.3.1 installation into the default directories. I'm using LiveCode 8-0-0-dp1. I'm using OS X 10.11.5

I want to build an iOS app. I've set the standalone application settings and I'm now trying to set LiveCode > Preferences > Mobile Support

I click the "Add Entry" button and hit return (as 4.3 or later is default), but I feel as though I'm on some game of hide and seek across my directories and folders!

The dialog opens in /Applications but if I select Xcode I see "The chosen folder is not a valid iOS SDK". I've added ~/Library to the Finder sidebar and if I click "Add Entry" and navigate inside there and select Developer and Open, it just opens it; I select Xcode and Open and it just opens it, and so on and so on and so on.

Which folder does it want? What am I trying to find? What is it called? Why is this so mysterious and unhelpful?

Any help would be much appreciated. I would like to create a proof of concept for my employers, a big council authority. If I can show them this it may lead to commercial licences and a high profile. At the moment it's leading to a brick wall.

Hi KiltedGreen,

1. welcome to the forum! :D

2. We are at LC 8.01 STABLE right now, please try again with the latest version here:

And report back please.

Best

Klaus

P.S.
Selecting Xcode.app in the app folder SHOULD do the trick, that is correct!

I'm using LiveCode 8-0-0-dp1.
I'm using OS X 10.11.5
Is this a typo or are you really using 8.0 DP 1 ?

If yes, much better to use stable releases...

Thanks one and all. Installed latest 8.0 and it had prepopulated the directory already! :D

I haven't used LiveCode for a while (as you may have guessed) and when I fired it up I chose Help > Check for Updates and it said it was latest, so I looked no further. I suppose it was looking for a newer Dev Preview.

Thanks to both of you for such a superbly quick response. It's unexpected and very much appreciated.
