Livecode iOS listview/tableview widget?

I've just purchased Livecode. I want to use it to update some iOS Apple Store apps.

I have developed several esoteric web apps for iOS using html5,css,javascript,cordova and Xcode. I am not an all star coder. I got tired of using so many technologies decided to buy LC. I decided to bite the bullet and spend LOTS (in my world) of dollars on Livecode.

So now comes my question: I've searched the forum, tutorials, docs but can't find any reference to one of the most common UI widgets for the iPhone, that is, the listview or tableview. I've tried using the LC list-scroll widget. It doesn't display as an iOS widget when run on the simulator. I have found references to plugins that have an associated cost, but after a large outlay of money to purchase LC, I am assuming that an IDE advertised to support for iOS probably has the widget available. I must be missing it.

Would someone be willing to point me to a tutorial, docs or someplace where I can find information related to using a listview/tableview in LC?

Hi Rachel,

1. welcome to the forum!

2. I think you are looking for the "Datagrid" control, find it somewhere in the TOOLS palette.
Be warned, this is the most complex object we have in Livecode, so I highly recommend to
visit this page http://lessons.livecode.com/m/datagrid, load the PDF and read it up
a couple of times!

3. Maybe also check these stacks to get used to the basics of Livecode, which are very different
from what you may already know about other scripting/programming languages!

Klaus,

I'm so new to LiveCode. I'm facing some typical, and some not so typical, IDE set up and running issues. Lots of head banging at the moment.

However, I do want to thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I know most forums don't like a lot of the "thank you" stuff, but I do appreciate help when someone takes the time to offer it.

Now, I'm off to follow your suggestions for study.
