How to make 3.5 Studio the default

Hi, just downloaded and installed 3.5 Rev Studio and checked the button "Make this version the default" or similar.

Put the beta Enterprise 3.5 in the bin and double-clicked a Rev file. Message appears: "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -10660)"

Retrieved the beta Enterprise and double-clicked a Rev file again but it now opens in Enterprise, not my proper copy of Studio.

Has anyone any ideas how I can make Studio 3.5 the default and ideally ditch the beta Enterprise version please

Try opening the studio version directly, then under the help menu click "manage versions" highlight studio version if its not and click "make default".

Think that'll do it fir you.

Good thinking there sturgis but unfortunately no joy. In Rev 2.9 and 3.0 they recognise the existance of each other to make a choice of default but 3.5 Enterprise still opens. in the Enterprise version, the manage versions dialog only see itself.

I'll stick with opening the prog first always, then double-clicking files which opens in the 3.5 studio version as I want. I'll have to keep the beta Enterprise on disc.

Edit: I'm thinking with half a brain again (well, it is late!); run the uninstaller for Enterprise, that should do it.

Hmm. If you're on windows, you might try right clicking a rev file, point to "open with" find the version of rev you want to use in the list, and see if it'll let you put the checkbox into "always open these files with" style box. Least thats how I remember it looks from win2k. Or in explorer, can try going to the tools menu, folder options, see if the rev extension is in the list, and if so modify it to point at the one you want.

On a mac, can try similar. Right click, find where the opens with section disclosure triangle is, open the section, choose your rev and try to change all. But i its like mine, it may not take. Had this problem when I updated to rev studio. I used a 3rd party program to force it at that point and don't recall what the program name was!

Hi sturgis, the uninstall did the trick.

Thanks for reminding me of the control click on the rev files (I use a Mac), I had quite forgotten that!
