MacOS Tahoe and not Sequoia support

Hi LC, Apple today announced macOS Tahoe and LC doesn't yet support Sequoia released on September 16, 2024, when can we expect it to be supported?

Probably never as LC is supposedly running hell-for-leather towards the web-based-thing.

What is missing in LC for Sequia support? My apps, built under LC9.6.13 ot 10.0.1 run under Sequoia. I'd just like to know, so I don't accidentally run into a problem if I add a new feature or function to my apps.

I have apps built with LC 9.6.3 Community Edition that run in MacOS Sequoia . . .

But that is not the same thing as LiveCode stating they support that operating system.

@Paul I agree with @richmond62, I don’t now what is missing but for any reason LC doesn’t support it

AS far as I understand these things, when a software company states they support their software running on a certain operating system it means they have spent quite a lot of time and money running that software on the named operating system attempting to 'break' their software.

As LiveCode state they don't support any form of Ubuntu after a version released in 2014, that is basically their way of telling you, "You're on your own chum, and do not come crying to us if your standalone buggers someone's computer."

The bit of what I just stated that I would like to emphasise is: a lot of time and money

Now many long years ago (22) I built a load of stuff using Runtime Revolution (as it was then called) for a software company (for Scottish High School pupils to acquaint themselves with musical genres): I urged my employer to pay several people to Beta test the software, and he refused.

He laughed in my face when I went along with him to my lawyer and signed a bit of paper stating that as he refused to Beta test my work I would not be held responsible for any problems with my work.

He released the software for Windows and Macintosh on a CD-ROM stating that it worked on those systems (i.e. ones that were current at the time). When the thing crashed a load of school computers he ended up in court and had to pay out a lot of money (had to sell his house). Obviously LiveCode are not prepared to do any testing with LiveCode on the systems they state they don't support: and they are not so goofy as to state they support a system when they have not done extensive testing.

So, on our product download pages, we list the versions of macOS and Windows we're "officially" compatible with.

Apple releases new versions of the macOS so often and, as a small business, we can not afford enough macs to be running every one. We often forget to update this list when a new macOS comes out. We never test on beta macOS versions (like macOS 26) (or Windows betas) as, in our experience [only], they are too subject to change, and we can not afford the resources to retest. We wait until a release version is available, then either add it to our list of supported OSes when:
1) Livecode adds it to their list (and we notice - sometime LC forgets like us)
2) We update the OS on some mac we have and test our apps
3) Some customer or perspective customer sends us a support inquiry specifically asking is we support os version whatever. At which point we either test if we have an available system OR ask the community if they have enountered any issues and, if not, list it as supported.

The realities of our small business (at least). Not ideal by any means, but what we end up doing due to limited time and resources.

LC has stated they will support the classic version for 3 years, which is at least until 2027 depending on when they started the countdown, maybe through 2028. Someone should write a bug report specifying what is broken.
